Day 2 - Quotes and Thoughts
Focus on the effort, not just the outcome; it's like an iceberg, with the process beneath the surface. Set big goals, build daily habits, and constantly assess your progress. Education is not just about memorisation but understanding, self-learning, independent thinking, and innovation.
✍️
In the fixed mindset, everything is about the outcome. If you fail—or if you’re not the best—it’s all been wasted. The growth mindset allows people to value what they’re doing regardless of the outcome. They’re tackling problems, charting new courses, working on important issues. - Carol Dweck (Mindset)

- The effort used to generate the outcome is more important than the outcome itself.
- It is like an iceberg. The outcome is just what you can see on the surface, while the process uncovers the depth in under the surface. Hence, if you want to gain the fundamentals, you should learn the process instead of the outcome.

- You need to set up a big goal, then, reinforce your habits that commit small activities to archiving such goal day by day. This is how you build your own business that aims to improve yourself day by day.
- When you are bored of or getting angry about the small activities that you have been committing daily, you need to recall the big goal that we set out. You should also ask yourself the following questions: "Where am I in the progress bar moving towards the big goal?", "Did I learn anything today that helps me to get better tomorrow?", and "Is it still worth my time to continue on this direction or to make changes?".
✍️
- Today, the machine can memorise the information better and more persistent than human. If education is just about memorisation, we will lose this competition soon.
- The goal of education is to get people educated. Being educated is not just about memorisation but understanding how the knowledge will be applied in a specific context as well as discovering a new knowledge contributing to the loop of innovation. This requires the ability to self-learn, the ability to think independently and the ability to question and reason what are being taught.
