Day 4 - Quotes and Thoughts

Our mindset shapes our actions and consequences. Building meaningful relationships requires understanding, feedback, and an open mind. Balance work and personal life, and embrace growth through learning and adaptability.

✍️
Mindsets add another dimension. They help us understand even more about why people often don’t learn the skills they need or use the skills they have. Why people throw themselves so hopefully into new relationships, only to undermine themselves. Why love often turns into a battlefield where the carnage is staggering. And, most important, they help us understand why some people are able to build lasting and satisfying relationships. - Carol Dweck (Mindset)

  • Everything around us is philosophy, and hence, our mindset is one of the factors that affects how we behave to things in a specific context. We may often observe that two people with the different mindsets behave differently in the same situation, and this results in two different consequences. Even the consequence is bad, it is our choice to learn from it for getting better or ignore it.
  • Establishing a relationship is simple; however, building a meaning relationship is challenging. It requires the deep understanding between each other. To deeply understand each other, being willing to provide constructive feedback, adaptive and open-minded are required between both sides. These may not be possible without a good mindset.

  • At work, you have the responsibilities and duties to get the job done. This is because the other people are depending on your work to get their jobs done. In your personal life, you have the responsibilities to nurture your soul by experiencing the different things (i.e., not about work).
  • As a human, we have the limited amount of time. There is a boundary between work and life. Hence, it is your choice to identify when it is enough to switch from one to another.

✍️
The curse of knowledge is that it closes our minds to what we don’t know. Good judgment depends on having the skill—and the will—to open our minds. - Adam Grant (Think Again)

  • We are growing by discovering the unknowns based on what we are knowing.
  • Being knowledgeable about a topic is good because we can offer our expertise during the decision making process. However, being conservative (i.e., being knowledge with the fixed mindset) impedes our growth and negatively affects our relationships.
