  • A complex system is the combination of fundamental building blocks. Hence, it would be better to educate the fundamentals and the methodologies for discovering more knowledge and connecting them.
  • Such methodologies can be learning by doing, learning by trial and error, or learning by falling. Without doing or trying, we barely understand the practical facet of the knowledge and receive constructive feedback for being better.

  • Working collaboratively can improve the productivity in terms of time and quality if we do it right. Otherwise, it will navigate us to the conflict solving instead of problem solving. This is because people may have the different perspectives or opinions about a particular topic. It is worth noting that not every opinion is valid and supportive. To filter such irrelevant opinions, it requires to have a system or a workflow that enables people to share their disagreement transparently and objectively with valid pieces of evidence.

  • Adding a new habit or removing an ineffective habit is not the short-term decision because it will affect us for the long-term run.
  • If becoming a researcher is your long-term goal, you should add a reading habit into your daily life. If you don't enjoy it within the short period, you need to reflect why your habit got started.
  • If the financial sustainability is one of the long-term goals of your company, you should remove redundancy to reduce operation cost, or add more sustainable funds into it.
  • For any decision that you are about to make, you should think twice (one is for the long-term goal, and another one is for the short-term plans).

  • Acquiring a skill is not only for the immediate need, but also for the life-long learning. In other words, the skill that you acquire today can be a dot point of knowledge that you will connect back later.
  • At work, there can be situations when you realise that the knowledge you learned long time ago can be used to get the work done today. Whether you faced such situations or not, it would be always better to think twice before you invest your time on acquiring a particular skill.
